EL CAMINO COLLEGE 3-D DESIGN/SCULPTURE PORTFOLIO (FALL 2022-SPRING 2023)

Since the Fall of 2021, I have attended El Camino College as a Studio Arts major. I have received my Associate’s Degree, so I thought it would only be appropriate to showcase some of the 3-D Design and sculpture work that I have done for the Fall 2022-Spring 2023 school year.

3-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN (FALL 2022)

TITLE: CYBERBOX

CYBERBOX is my interpretation of how I see the future. A high-tech, low-life society that prioritizes technological advances over the quality of life of humans. CYBERBOX is a robot that isn’t keeping up with the technological advances of society and is left behind to rot and be forgotten about.

Made with recycled cardboard and hot glue.

BEGINNING SCULPTURE (SPRING 2023)

TITLE: JEALOUSY

This is my first clay sculpture, a visual representation of how I view the word “jealousy.” I was inspired by Erykah Badu’s song “Green Eyes’ and the saying of jealousy being a green-eyed monster. Emotions like sadness, anger, jealousy, etc. are human emotions that we can’t help but feel. But if we don’t regulate these emotions, and instead let them fester, we turn into hideous beings.

Made with clay.

TITLE: CHIBI RSX

When tasked to construct a contemporary netsuke that’s significant to South Bay (and to yourself), what does one create? A chibi style JDM car, more specifically an RSX. When looking back on my time in the South Bay, I think about the iconic JDM cars in my neighborhood that drive along the streets of Gardena, and the one who excitedly points them out is no one other than my partner, Merricks, in the driver seat of his ‘02 DSM RSX. It’s also important to acknowledge that Gwen (that’s her name) got me across town for the past two years.

Made with polymer clay and recycled hot wheel tires.

Photography of artwork by Merricks.
